Where is the Maldives?
The Maldives is a group of 1,200 coral islands that are located in the Indian Ocean to the South and Southwest of India and Sri Lanka, respectively. It is about four hours' flying time from Singapore in the east and five hours' flying time from the Gulf region in the west.
How do I get to the Maldives?
The best way to travel to the Maldives is by air. A number of scheduled and charter flights operate to the Maldives.
Do I need a visa to enter the Maldives?
No, you do not need a visa prior to entering the Maldives. All travelers are given a 30-day visa upon arrival. To receive this, each traveler must present a passport (valid for at least six months), and a valid return air ticket to a destination where the passenger has permission to enter together with any visa required for that destination.
What is the weather like in the Maldives?
Being located on the equator, the Maldives has a hot tropical climate, with plenty of sunshine and a high level of humidity. The temperature fluctuates between 24C to 30C. The Maldives has two monsoons, the northeast monsoon occurring from November to April which is the dry and sunny season, while the southwest monsoon from May to October is the rainy season. Having said this, it is possible to get a number of sunny days even during the rainy season, since Maldivian rain spells last mostly around three to four days followed by a sunny period.
What is the best time to visit the Maldives?
The Maldives are lovely all year round but the high season tends to be from November to April when there are clear skies and it is dry. The visibility for diving is also high during this period. However, for surfers, it is the opposite, since the southwest monsoon brings the best waves, with the largest waves occurring in July and August. Please note that in Baa Atoll surfing is not very common.
How long does it take to get to Amilla from Malé?
It takes just 30 minutes by seaplane or 20 minutes by domestic flight to Dharavandhoo airport, then a short 10-minute speed boat ride to arrive at your island home.
What currency is used on the islands?
The local currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa. We accept US Dollars cash and all major credit cards.
What is the Time Zone?
Amilla Fushi is five hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time [GMT +5] Malé time.
What languages are spoken at Amilla?
The official languages spoken at Amilla Fushi are Dhivehi and English. However, we have multi-lingual staff working here as well.
Can I take photographs, videos, and drone footage?
Due to privacy laws, it is prohibited to bring unmanned aerial systems or drones to the Island. NO DRONE POLICY: Due to privacy laws, it is prohibited to bring unmanned aerial systems or drones to the Island. Drones can be left with the TSMIC airport lounge and collected on departure. Photography and videos are allowed for personal use.
Is there a soccer pitch?
Yes. Amilla Fushi has a soccer pitch for guests to play football. We often hold tournaments here too.
Is there Wifi available?
Yes. There is complimentary guest wifi coverage available in all of our outlets and houses.
Do you provide a laundry service?
Yes, we offer a paid laundry service throughout your stay. Please note that we do not provide dry cleaning services.
Do you provide room service?
Yes, we provide home delivery 24/7.
Do you cater to special dietary requirements?
Yes. On arrival, please discuss any dietary requirements or allergies you may have with your Katheeb. Our chefs can then prepare a menu based on your requirements.
Can I smoke anywhere in the resort?
You may smoke outside in designated areas but please note that all our houses are non-smoking.
Can I drink the tap water?
The water from the taps is desalinated seawater and is perfectly safe for brushing your teeth. The bottled water provided in the house, restaurant and bars is further filtered and ozone-treated and very safe to drink.
Can I fish on the house reef?
Please note there is no fishing allowed on the house reef. For fishing excursions, please contact your Katheeb or visit HUB. We also have a no fish- or shark-feeding policy.
Can I swim anywhere around the resort?
Yes, it is. Life vests are placed in the villas for your safety. Do not swim alone. Doing so without a guide is at your own risk. There is no lifeguard on duty. Be aware of strong currents around the Island, “refer to the warning flag before getting in the water". Swimming at night time is strictly prohibited for your own safety. A safety briefing is mandatory before you swim/snorkel (even if you have your own snorkeling items), the snorkeling items are provided free of charge from HUB after completion of the safety briefing. Please note that the maximum depth of the main swimming pool is 1.6 meters; diving is prohibited and children must be supervised at all times. Pool opening hours are 8:30 am to 8:30 pm.
Can I play tennis at Amilla?
Yes, we have two floodlit tennis courts where guests can enjoy tennis games, private lessons with a Jim Courier Tennis Pro.
Is there a doctor on Amilla?
There is a resident doctor on the island. If required, transport assistance can be arranged through your Katheeb.
Do you provide a babysitting service?
Yes, we do. This is charged a $20++ per child per hour.
